Pull List from week 46 (last week)

Posted by Carlos Rosas on Nov 18, 2008 in Comics, Comics I Read This Week

1. Stuck In The Middle With You

I love these characters, I just don’t like Winnick’s writing that much, I’m getting it anyway.

2. Forgotten, Part Six: Full Circle

sad to know that this series is coming to an end, it’s good, but it didn’t catch its public.

3. Boxes: Chapter Two Of The Dark Ages

I’m so late on this series, I really love it, I’ll try to read it all during my vacations

4. Sins of the Star Sapphire Part Two - Empty Handed Heart

I’ll get this one, even though I’m late on this series, haven’t read it since the Sinestro Corps arc.

5. Superman

The Justice Society is much more fun than the JLA these days, I have been enjoying it a lot more. I don’t know why DC don’t put Goeff to write JLA too (even though this issue is written by Alex Ross).

6. Part 3 of 5

I’m getting this series too, but I’ll wait for it to end so that I read it all.

7. Cacophony Part One: Bring The Noise

I’ll read the first one and if it’s good I’ll get the rest.

8.

I know I should be reading this series, but I’m waaaay late on it.

9. Hell comes to Birmingham - Part Two

I really liked Paul Cornell’s Pete Wisdom mini series, I read the first issue of this series too, I thought it was going to be a mini also, during Secret Invasion, I’m glad to know that it’s not, I’ll try to read them all this weekend.

10. Stars In Your Eyes, Part 2

pretty late on this one too, about 4 or 5 issues, but I really like the character, I hope this series goes well.

11. Old Huntin’ Buddies; A Bookie Minute Mystery

I’ll have time on my vacation to catch up on ASM, I’m getting it anyway.

12. The Great Leap: Conclusion

Again, pretty late on this one, last ish I read was on the One Year Later thing, but I’m going to read it just because of the Batman R.I.P..

13. Dead and Burnt to Ash; Air Is For Cowards

I’m also getting this one, but I haven’t read any issue at all, these weekly comics are the ones I get late more often, and it’s like I’m not thaaaat excited to read it.

14. One Door Closes, Another Opens

even though I don’t think Judd Winick is the best writer around, I’m enjoying this series.

15. New Krypton, Part 2: Beyond Doomsday

I’m enjoying the New Krypton arc, I’m really excited to see what’s going to happen.

16. Batman R.I.P.: Heart of Hush, The Conclusion: The Demon in the Mirror

I’m just a little late on this one, maybe a couple of issues, but I intend to read all of Batman R.I.P. tie ins.

17. Old Man Logan, Part 4

Hell YEAH!!! Mark Millar and Wolverine, greatest combination

Pull List from last week

Posted by Carlos Rosas on Nov 10, 2008 in Comics, Comics I Read This Week

1. Three Kings

I read this one, it smells like a reboot is coming in the end, and I got pissed that Dazzler died, at least it looks like she died, but I don’t know. The Ultimate Universe is not as good now as it was in the beginning, if it’s going to reboot or get deeply revamped it will be very nice

2. Earth Bound

I read this one, I liked it, I’m excited to know what will happen to JSA in the next few months, the stories are much much much better than the Justice League ones these days

3. Resist

I read it but I couldn’t get the end, well, I understood that the OMACS killed everyone in Checkmate? Including Fire and Ice, and that Sasha died too? What The Hell? This comic is quite good though

4. Kill or Cure, Part 3; Abomination; Uncheerable

I’m kind of reading this, it’s a shame it’s only a mini series, it reminds me of the good old days of X-Men Unlimited and its short stories

5. Adam: Legend of the Blue Marvel

I’ll give it a try, but it sounds like The Sentry

6. Family Ties, Part 2

Brand new day was a little crappy, but I’m trying, the hard thing is that with my lack of time I’m waaaaay late on this series, that comes out thrice a month now, I must be at least 15 issues late, but I’ll keep trying

7. Gigantic

I got this one, haven’t read yet, but it looks really nice

8. Can You Dig It?

I’ll read this first one and we’ll see. Every once in a while they try to bring Terra back

9. The World Shapers

Grant Morrison? Of course I’m going to read this!!!

10. Chapter 3: Reign

I read the first issue and I’m going to try to read the rest this weekend. It’s nice and fun.

11. The Strangest Teens Of All

I got this one but I haven’t read yet, It looks nice, I’ll give it a try this weekend

12. Epilogue: Clifton Pollard

I haven’t read any Issue of this new series, but I’m willing to read them at least… this year, heheh!!! I’m also late on IM’s other title. Since this one has only 7 to read I’ll do it first, the other one I haven’t read since Civil War

13. Terror Titans, Part Two: Making the Cut

I have read the first issue of this series, but not this one yet. I thought it was ok, but I’m personally not enjoying Teen Titans after Geoff Johns left the writing duties. Anyway, I’ll read this one to see what happens

14. Waiting for the End of the World. Chapter Two: Invasion, U.S.A.

I’m reading Cable and I’m thinking this series is quite ok, it’s good to read, but if nothing happens soon I don’t think it will last much

Posted by Carlos Rosas on Nov 5, 2008 in News Flash, Videos

Hello to all,

I decided it’s time I started taking care properly of this old blog again, so after finding this nice theme, and a bunch of plugins I’m going to try it once again.

I’ll try to make a podcast, put some more links, youtube videos, I’ll try to write about music, cinema, comics, art, and other topics like I used to.

I have MBA this week, so it’s going to be a little rough, but tomorrow I’ll try to talk about some comics from last week I read, if any, of course. (note to self: create a new blogging schedule, including the translation of old articles)

Well, here’s the fourth and, I believe, final video from The Cure’s 4:13 Dream album, which is great, I’ll be talking about this incredible album this weekend.

I leave you with Robert Smith and The Cure, see you!

Going Home

Posted by Carlos Rosas on Oct 20, 2008 in Something About Carlos

Hello to all, after a long time away I’m going home. I left on September 28th and I’m going to arrive on October 21st.

This whole (business) trip was really good. I have told you what happened in Helsinki on earlier posts. Johannesburg was really cool, Micheline was really nice, the conference was really good. Jo’burg is great, I really want to get back there, we stayed in this fancy hotel, called Palazzo Montecasino, very Paris and Nicolle.

Maputo was very nice too, me and Jackson had a very good time there. There’s this really good restaurant called Sagres, near the hotel, that we went to eat everyday. Our president, Lula, was at the same hotel, and there was this night that I was at the reception with Micheline and some of the Unicef ladies, and he came down the stairs, stared at me and sair “Good Night”, I replied, of course, “Good Night President”. Quite cool, isn’t it?

Well, now I’m in London, and I have a lot of work to do when I get in Manaus!!! Talk to you again when I’m there. For now check my photos on my flickr!!!

Hello from Helsinki

Posted by Carlos Rosas on Oct 9, 2008 in Helsinki, Something About Carlos

Hello to all!!! Haven’t got much time to write here, I’m in Helsinki (again) working a lot. The event was very successful, and I’m having some meetings too. I love this city, unfortunately I’ll be leaving in two days, I always get sad when I leave Helsinki.

This time it was even more fun coming here, I made some very good friendships with Kaisa and Esther, whom I met last time I came here. They are the most fun and sweet Finnish and Spanish girls I have ever met.

I didn’t go out as much as I wanted, there were a lot of friends from work here this time. We had some fun at LUX, it was really really good. We went to this park/forest place here with Kaisa, Luukki, I uploaded some of the pictures on my Flickr. I didn’t go out shopping as much as the last time also, just bought two brand new sneakers and two DS games (Final Fantasy IV and Dragon Quest IV).

I really hope I come back here soon.

Saturday I’m leaving to Johannesburg for a conference, hope everything goes well there too, I’m very excited on going to Africa for the first time.

I’ll try to blog there too, see ya!

Lately

Posted by Carlos Rosas on Sep 12, 2008 in Something About Carlos

I’ve been very busy lately and many things are happening these days in my life. I’ve been working a lot, and I mean it. But well… I love working a lot.

I’ve been going out with my friends more often, last Thursday we hung out in “Porão do Alemão”, we got extremely drunk, me, Deco, Marcos, Fernando and Xicão, but we had a lot of fun. Anyone who’s my friend in Flick can see the pictures here: Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

Well, we decided the name of our band, it’s called The Salmiakkis. We know it’s an internal joke, but it’s nice. My friends wanted to use The One Night Stand Band, but it was my band in college, so I think it’s better if we keep it there, it doesn’t exist anymore. Anyone can watch some videos of us here in my YouTube channel. I’m still trying to upload this huuuuuge video of us playing Blur’s Beetlebum, but you know, Manaus’ internet is a crap.

In the love area… well… it’s complicated! Hahahahahah! But I wish it wasn’t.

I’m getting ready to travel again and this time I will spend a lot of time away from Manaus, but it’s ok, I’m going to a place I really like and to a place I’m really excited to get to know. Anyway, I think it will be the longest work trip I ever had. And of course, I’ll try to spend less money, the last few trips kind of bankrupted me, Boston, Quito, London and Helsinki, especially Boston and London.

I’ve been reading a little bit more, which is good, but it’s still not enough, and YES, I need to read more technical books. I NEED to study.

Well, have to go now, see you!

Posted by Carlos Rosas on Aug 26, 2008 in Music Is My Radar

Yeeessss, we finally started rehearsing, we’ll do it every week. It was really really fun, we rehearsed The Cure’s Boys Don’t Cry, Just Like Heaven (My favorite) and Friday I’m In Love. Next week we’ll rehearse Franz Ferdinand’s Jaqueline, Blur’s Beetlebum and U2’s Even Better Than The Real Thing.

We had a lot of fun, looking forward for more sessions, hahahah.

Everything old is new again

Posted by Carlos Rosas on Aug 24, 2008 in Something About Carlos

So, here I am, I finally decided I should blog only in English. For those who speak Portuguese and would like to see what I have been blogging about in the past 5 years, you can access my old blog here. Well, since I consider this a spin-off of the last one let’s get to what really interests, no introductions, you can find an About Me on the top of the page, or somewhere here.

I’ve been traveling a lot, almost every month. This year I’ve been to Boston, Quito, London and Helsinki. This last one was really cool, it was the second time I’ve been there and it was a lot more fun than the last time. I met a lot of nice people, I went to this amusement park, Linnanmaki, which is really cool, I went out almost every night. I even got to “have fun” with this Finnish girl that I can’t remember the name, maybe because I was too drunk to ask, in this dance club called LUX, which is really really nice. Of course, I bought a lot of Fazer, some dvds and records, some books, and even some perfume.

I really have to stop spending too much money. I’m also willing on going on a severe diet. I have already stopped drinking Coke, I have to eat less now, much less. I weight 140 kg, at least 50 have to go.

Well, I still have to find time to change this template, put some links, and all that stuff.

I posted some pictures of Helsinki on my Flickr, you can all take a look there.

It’s been a long time

Posted by Carlos Rosas on Jul 21, 2008 in Something About Carlos

Posted by Carlos Rosas on Jun 9, 2008 in Boston, Equador, Something About Carlos

Posted by Carlos Rosas on May 7, 2008 in Games

Ola a todos, eu recentemente destravei meu Wii, e continua funcionando perfeitamente. Devido a esse fato cheguei a marca de 40 jogos:

  1. Wii Sports
  2. Wii Play
